BRITISH ALPACA FIBRE FROM BRITISH FARMS

We certify the provenance of everything we make and sell.

We can trace our alpaca fibre to its UK source - fibre from British soil

In the UK there are around 50,000 alpacas and 22.6 million sheep. From this population only around 5,000 British Alpaca would have saddle fibre with a diameter less than 20 micron which we classify as British Royal Alpaca.  British Alpaca are sheared annually and generally produce around 2 kilograms of saddle fibre that can be used for production. The annual production of Royal British Alpaca would not be more than 8,000 tons

►  Alpaca fibre contains microscopic airbags making it possible for the manufacture of light weight textiles with high insulation values

►  The surface of alpaca fibre is smooth thus it has a natural lustre

►  The cellular structure of the fibre produces a soft handle

►  The high number of scales on each fibre provides a naturally breathable garment

►  The fibre is unusually strong resilient and durable

►  Unlike wool mohair or cashmere it comes in an array of 26 natural colours eliminating the need to dye the yarns and cloth
